Returned Missionaries

February 2019

Sister missionaries enjoy a night sharing the gospel.Missionaries return home filled with hope and needing direction. With the help of philanthropic donations, returned missionary scholarships are now making it possible for more to further their education through BYU-Pathway Worldwide.

In January 2019, BYU-Pathway piloted 50-percent reduced-tuition scholarships for missionaries from the Brazil and Caribbean areas of the Church who had returned home within the last five years. During the first semester of this pilot program, enrollment increased by 153 percent in Brazil and 130 percent in the Caribbean. After three semesters, the resulting increase is still impressive.

Because of this success, in May 2019 the pilot was expanded to the Pacific, South America Northwest, and South America South areas in the form of 25-percent reduced-tuition schoarships. Donations like yours are providing new hope to these young men and women.

Called to Continue Serving

Elder Uchtdorf delivers a call to continue serving to returned missionaries.Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf is one of many General Authorities that has delivered devotionals or speeches delivered to all BYU-Pathway Worldwide students online.

During a recent message to all BYU-Pathway students, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf encouraged them to invite others to come and see what BYU-Pathway can do for them. In part, he said, “To the thousands of you who are just returning home from a mission and are enrolling in BYU-Pathway Worldwide, let me remind you, inviting a friend or family member to come and see by joining you as you start your post-mission education is also a great way to continue your own missionary and ministering efforts.”
